Saturday December 7th, Horse Jumper Of Love found themselves headlining an intimate show at Everybody Hits in Philadelphia. With openers Highnoon and Soul Glo on the lineup as well, the crowd was in for a good night.
Philly locals Highnoon opened up the show, and honestly, the best way to describe them would be sunshine personified. Their sound is unique, but also carried a certain nostalgia with it. Think The Cranberries meets Small Talks and Lua, but brought to a new, unseen level. While Highnoon might only have a few tracks out, they’re without a doubt a hidden gem in the Philly scene.
Second to take the stage that night was punk outfit Soul Glo. They brought an insane amount of energy to the show, and the crowd was immediately into it. Pairing social commentary with a hardcore sound, Soul Glo twists modern punk into something important. If you’re looking for the next band to bring punk back to its roots, Soul Glo is exactly who you’re looking for.
Headliners of the night, Horse Jumper of Love, were met by a buzzing crowd. Having released their album So Divine in June of this year, it’s no surprise that the room was filled front to back with fans excited to hear some of their favorite songs. Horse Jumper Of Love is one of those bands that you need to see live to have the full experience. Seeing them play in such an intimate setting felt personal, and made the tracks hit that much harder. The audience would likely agree, seeing as how they chanted for “one more song!,” and the band was happy to oblige.
Whether you’re a local to Philly or live in one of the cities Horse Jumper Of Love is hitting up next, you need to keep these three acts on your radar. It’s not often that you find bands that can seamlessly innovate their genres, but Highnoon, Soul Glo, and Horse Jumper Of Love do it with ease. Stream their music, go to their shows, and give them your support; it’s only a matter of time before they take their respective scenes by storm.
